Hiding From Reality |
Alternative |

Strangers in the masks they wore
Real life locked outside the door
Things were never plain
No place to keep sane
Ill cast in the roles they played
Twisted rules defined the game
Words were loaded dice,
blunt and imprecise
Paths so simple in the warm daylight
grew to mazes with the night
No-one here was what they seemed to be
Hiding from reality
And when one refused to play
All those locks were picked away
Feelings magnified
by too many eyes
Sleeping at the wheel
No-one in control
How did we get here?
Paths so simple in the warm daylight
grew to mazes with the night
No-one here was what they seemed to be
Hiding from reality
How did we get here?

Indigo |

A palpable anguish arrives.
A movable force contrived.
A fallible plan devised.
An altered life realized.
This moment does intrude.
These words do abuse.
A lamented course ensues.
The description does abuse.
The brilliant hue,
A luminous view,
The radiant glow,
Ever Indigo.
No revision is conceived.
No offers of reprieve.
Predictions will deceive.
Remedies will achieve.
The argument will ensue,
Presenting an altered view.
Speaking firm and clear,
One day we all arrive here.
Love vowing to endure.
The covenant is ensured.
A lifetime void of regret.
This moment will not forfeit.
The morning casts vivid hues.
Each vision a memory saved.
Each motion ever engraved.
A portrait never forsakes.

I was abandoned
I was suspect
I was impassioned
I was lament
You were the wounded
You were bemused
You were dubious
You were abused
Adaptation...
Existing to modify
Adaptation…
Resisting the justified
Adaptation…
Permitted and rectified
Adaptation…
I am enamored
I am revealed
I am enraptured
I am restored
You are a miracle
You are adored
You are beloved
You are revered
We are a testament
We are sacred
We are the amorous
We are splendor
I was abandoned
I was suspect
I was impassioned
I was lament
You were the wounded
You were bemused
You were dubious
You were abused

What the Crows Know |
Alternative |
|

I want to know what the crows know
A hundred dark birds intertwined
Linked in mysterious purpose
a singular thought as one mind
Secrets of flight through the dusk,
unspoken
Magnetic North as a trust
unbroken
l want to see what the crow sees
to gaze from the sky without wonder
A master to every horizon
A world made of flight and of plunder
Secrets of flight through the dusk,
unspoken
Magnetic North as a trust
unbroken
I want to hear what the crow hears
In shrill pleading call and response
Are they cloaked sounds of
Hope or aggression
Or echoes of meaning we've lost
Secrets of flight through the dusk,
unspoken
Magnetic North as a trust
unbroken

Talking in Circles |
Alternative |
|
|
Talking in circles,
Deflecting the blame,
Drifting semantics
Wash meaning away.
Spiraling logic,
The company line
Of long distance runners,
Stands frozen in time.
The pain of the journey,
From reason to doubt,
The bar lines and charts,
Form a treasonous shout.
But eyes in the street
Fade from fiery to gray,
Contemptuous glances,
At swollen decay.
Your talk is cheap
Your words cut deep
You talk, I need you to listen
Some paid with their dignity,
Some with their lives,
For company dinners,
And new trophy wives.
Elected officials gleam
Smiles through the smoke,
The future once promised,
Now only a joke.
Your talk is cheap
Your words cut deep
You talk, I need you to listen
This thing we created
Looms out of control,
As cold vacuum rhetoric,
Devours the soul.
As glossy and cheap
As the products we sell,
We hide in our bunkers,
Secure in our shell.
Your talk is cheap
Your words cut deep
You talk, I need you to listen

Independence |

This chance can't pass me by.
I really need to try.
You know I can't say why,
But I'm going alone.
I'm going alone.
I'm going alone.
You say that things have changed.
You're coming back again.
But you won't see me then,
'Cause I'm going alone.
I'm going alone.
I'm going alone.
Throw this baggage overboard.
I won't need it anymore.
Now that I know where to find independence.
This chance can't pass me by.
I really need to try.
You know I can't say why,
But I'm going alone.
I'm going alone.
I'm going alone.
